What’s the difference between a single and dual lumen conserver?
Single lumen conservers use a single cannula where negative and positive pressure goes through a single tube.
Dual lumen conservers utilize a special cannula that senses on one side and delivers oxygen through the other tube. Dual lumen conservers are optimal for shallow breathers or those who require a more senstiive device to trigger the oxygen.
What length of cannula is recommended for use with a Respond O2?
RRI recommends a 4’ demand cannula to maximize sensitivity. A 7’ cannula is also commonly used but the added length may diminish the sensitivity (ie triggering of the unit).
What’s the difference between a regulator and a conserver?
Oxygen regulators deliver oxygen on continuous flow only.
Oxygen conservers deliver oxygen on inhalation only and do not provide oxygen during exhalation, thus allowing the cylinder contents to last 3 to 5 times longer than a regulator.
Why Dual Lumen Technology?
Dual Lumen Conservers offer a higher sensitivity over traditional single lumen models. They also eliminate sensing problems common with shallow breathers or nasal congested patients.
How often should I replace the viton washer?
RRI recommends replacing the viton seal washer at least every 5-7 cylinders, if not more frequently to ensure a proper seal.
My conserver is not functioning correctly, who do I contact to troubleshoot or repair it?
